Silvoarables Agroforstsystem mit Apfelbäumen
In November 2025, 120 apple trees were planted in rows across a 1.5-hectare area of the Land Gut Hagen estate. The agroforestry system was established as part of the EIP project “Roots & Robots” in collaboration with the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development and Klimapraxis. To investigate what young trees need to establish themselves and thrive on arable land, different rootstock types were used for planting: bare-root, container-grown and Air Pots. The effectiveness of planting hole additives such as mycorrhizae and water-retaining plant gels is also being investigated.
The project is funded from 2025 to 2027 under the European Innovation Partnership in Agriculture programme by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the State of Brandenburg.
