Futterlaub und Wertholz Agroforst Berghof 2024

The Berghof of Marco Braasch and Gabriela Marmolejo in Oberndorf am Neckar-Bochingen is a part-time farm (Bioland, certified since 2025) with around 27 ewes, beekeeping, chickens, and orchard meadows. The farm is one of the pilot farms in the agroforestry project of the Central/Northern Black Forest Nature Park.

In May 2024, Lignovis GmbH planted a silvo-arable-pastoral agroforestry system on 3.9 hectares of arable land with 2,174 poplars and willows (woodland area 0.5 ha). The trees are used for fodder leaves and wood chips (harvested with a chainsaw and chipper on a five-year cycle); the sheep graze the densely planted areas in sections. The planting of the agroforestry system was also part of the research project FuLaWi and is accompanied by the project partners (https://futterlaub.de).

In 2025, an additional 55 high-value trees (including filbert, hybrid walnut, service tree, wild cherry) were added to the rows as part of the agroforestry pilot project of the Black Forest Central/North Nature Park.
