Dynamischer Agroforst in Klein-Winternheim

In March 2020, the Mainz-Bingen district launched the pilot project “Dynamic Agroforestry in Klein-Winternheim” on a plot of land in northern Rheinhessen. This project is intended to serve as a model for the dynamic agroforestry cultivation method and to provide environmental education for interested citizens as part of the future project “Dynamic Agroforestry in the Municipalities of the Mainz-Bingen District.”

The municipal pilot project was launched as a collaborative effort between the Environmental and Energy Advisory Center ( Umwelt-Energieberatungszentrum - UEBZ) of the Mainz-Bingen District Administration (UEBZ, 2020), the nature conservation association NatureFund e.V. (NatureFund e.V., 2019), and the company “Biopforte” run by master gardener and landscape architect Ludger Schreiber (Biopforte, 2019). The UEBZ organizes and finances several projects in cooperation with NatureFund, which plans the project and implements and oversees it together with Biopforte staff. The plants were sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma GmbH & Co. KG, and there is a collaboration with various departments at Bingen University of Applied Sciences and Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, which provide scientific support for the project through various research questions.
