The Turnow Organic Farm is a 50-hectare organic farm near Cottbus, which has been run in accordance with the principles of organic farming since 2013. The farm places particular emphasis on animal welfare, sustainability and regional food production. A distinctive feature is the suckler cow system, in which the calves remain with their mothers and are reared naturally on their mothers’ milk. The dairy cows are kept outdoors all year round, grazing in the meadows in summer and fed hay in winter. The Turnow Organic Farm is also part of a community-supported agriculture (CSA) initiative, which connects consumers directly with organic, regional farming.

VIVO Carbon gGmbH is a non-profit organisation dedicated to climate protection through agroforestry. Its aim is to help balance COâ‚‚ levels in the atmosphere by storing carbon in trees, whilst simultaneously regenerating productive ecosystems and producing renewable raw materials. VIVO Carbon develops and implements agroforestry systems in partnership with farmers across Germany and manages these systems on a long-term basis together with them. Fast-growing tree species are usually harvested after around eight years; the timber is used for durable products such as building materials for long-term carbon storage. After harvesting, the trees regrow through coppicing. Agroforestry projects are funded by donations and climate finance contributions from companies and organisations.
